Rendon

This 540-page book contains eight generations of the descendants of the adopted children of Diego Rendon and Maria de Valverde. The first mention of Diego in El Nuevo Reyno de Leon (Nuevo Leon) was as a witness on a record dated the 12th of February 1655. Diego is considered the progenitor of the Rendon surname in Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, and Texas. This book contains information from the middle 1600s through the early 1900s.

Diego left a will dated the 5th of October 1678 in Monterrey. In his will he declared to be the legitimate son of Bartolome Rendon and Catalina de la Fuente, residents that they were from Mexico City. It is very likely that he was also born in Mexico City. He requested to be buried at the convent of San Francisco next to his wife Maria de Valverde. A record dated the year 1672 states that Diego was a merchant. Diego died on the 5th of September 1679 in Monterrey. His wife, Maria, was the daughter of Alonso Garcia and Leonor de Valverde. She died on the 7th of March 1676.

In his will he left Juan, Ventura, and Maria as his sole heirs. He said that they are children who he has raised in his home and who he has loved and loves as his own children.

To date I have not been able to locate the biological parents of Juan and Ventura. A marriage dispensation states that the biological father of Maria is Joseph Sanchez. Her mother’s name remains a mystery.

Juan married Maria Josepha Vega, Ventura married Maria Lopez de Jaen, and Maria married first to Pedro de Salas and then to Nicolas Zambrano.

To date I have been able to document 5596 descendants for the adopted children of Diego Rendon and Maria de Valverde. This book only contains the first eight generations of descendants that I have been able to confirm.

I truly hope that you find this book useful in your research. Also keep in mind that this book is just a tool, it is still your responsibility to get copies of records and double check my work. In this, I have attempted to include citations for every fact listed in this book so that you may know where my information came from and for you to find records faster.
