Botello

This 505-page book contains seven generations of the descendants of Pedro Botello de Morales and Ana Maria de Avila. Due to a declaration by Juan Buentello Guerrero made in 1636, we know that Pedro arrived in El Nuevo Reino de Leon in 1626 with the Governor Martin de Zavala. Pedro is considered the progenitor of the Botello surname in Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, and Texas. Some of his descendants also carry the surname Buentello. This book contains information from the 1600s through the late 1800s.

From the will of his son Francisco, we know that Pedro Botello de Morales was from Villa de Valverde, Extremadura, Spain. From that same document we know that his wife Ana Maria de Avila was from the Villa de Cordova, Spain. I have no information about them in Spain or prior to their arrival in El Nuevo Reino de Leon.

Pedro Botello de Morales was a central figure in the early colonial history of Cerralvo and the Nuevo Reino de Leon in the 17th century. As a miner, landowner, and community leader, his actions and ventures left an indelible mark on the region. From land disputes and mining claims to governance, his life was characterized by ambition, conflict, and an unwavering drive to establish his place in this rugged northern frontier of New Spain.

Thanks to the research of Tomas Mendirichaga Cueva we know that Pedro had seven children.  The records of Cerralvo prior to the 1750 are missing and thus, what we know comes from the church records and archives of Monterrey. In my database I have hundreds of Botello branches that I have not been able to connect to Pedro.

To date I have been able to document 14119 descendants for Pedro Botello de Morales. This book only contains a fraction of them, it only includes the first seven generations of descendants.

I truly hope that you find this book useful in your research.
