Benavides

This 437 page-book book contains seven generations of descendants of Francisco Baez de Benavides and Isabel Martinez Guajardo. It is believed that he entered Nuevo Reino de Leon (Nuevo Leon) in 1612, since in 1630 Francisco mentions that he had been in the area since eighteen years prior. Francisco Baez de Benavides is considered to be the progenitor of the Benavides last name in Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, and Texas.

He married Isabel Martinez Guajardo before 1626, since in the census of that year he is mentioned to be living in the Valle de las Salinas with his wife. She is the daughter of Francisco Martinez Guajardo and Ines Rodriguez Navarro.

Francisco served several posts during his life time, Alguacil Mayor (sheriff) of the Kingdom, Regidor (elderman) of Monterrey, Procurador General (attorney General) of Monterrey, and Escribano de Cabildo (notary of the city council) of Monterrey.

The consensus between researchers is that he died before 1666. His wife Isabel Martinez Guajardo died July 25, 1683 and was buried in the Monterrey Cathedral.
